Summary of Key Responsibilities:

Leads financial planning, analysis, and reporting in support of operations. Provides accurate, timely, and pertinent information, as well as insightful financial advice to drive informed decision making

Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Designing and monitoring financial and clinical metric reports, dashboards, scorecards, and standard monthly operating reports that accurately reflect business health, identify issues, and contribute to better management decisions as well as to the identification and exploitation of best practices; includes volume ratios, revenue trends, cost components, contribution margins, EBITDA, ROI, capacity, quality, etc.

  • Providing in all reporting: analysis of variances to standard, identification of root causes and interpreting them toward predicting future performance based on cause-and-effect relationships; includes full explanation, interpretation of results, and offering suggestions for performance improvements

  • Supporting assigned business lines with insightful financial advice based on thorough analyses

  • Developing profitability analyses for business segments, studies, sponsors, lines of business, etc. using insightful, cost-driver based processes

  • Developing market assessments, gap analysis and business plans for new ventures, partnerships, and other business relationships providing rationale and justification for positions taken

  • Interpreting contract language and independently building financial models that conform to agreement details including what-if models

  • Developing annual operating budgets and monthly forecasts (including relevant subsets); includes appropriate variance analyses using historical trends and insightful prediction techniques to propose recommendations

  • Ensuring that revenue opportunities are maximized and that gaps are identified and issues resolved

  • Analyzing staffing requirements based on activity drivers, monitoring trends, tracking variances, and developing projections with predictive insight

  • Demonstrating reliable project management toward the accomplishment of objectives, collaborating with and leading others who support these initiatives

  • Identifying, initiating and leading process improvement initiatives inside the department as well as cross-functionally

  • Networking throughout the organization and industry, acquiring and sharing knowledge of applicable internal and external data sources for use in analysis

  • Communicating efficiently and effectively in the presentation of existing data, interpretation of ongoing data needs for the business, and gaining feedback of expected needs prior to investing efforts to build

  • Providing financial leadership and training to non-finance professionals throughout the organization

  • Manage the data integrity staff to ensure that all patient and study level data is captured accurately within established timeframes

  • Develop, communicate and implement policies and procedures to support the data capture functions that include appropriate controls

  • Prepare reports of data capture activities as needed to monitor and evaluate effectiveness of defined procedures

Mandatory:

  • Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”

  • During your employment with Sarah Cannon, you will be routinely assigned training requirements. You are expected to complete any training assignments by the due date

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred

  • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, preferably in the healthcare industry

  • CMA or CPA preferred

  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook User

  • Functional in QuickBooks

  • Advanced knowledge of financial concepts and accounting principles

  • Expertise in analyzing financial statements

  • Experience with business models and performance metrics related to health care or medical research

  • Experience with project management and process improvement

  • Advanced knowledge of statistical principles, calculations, and applications

  • Familiarity with research techniques and financial evaluation tools 

  • Working knowledge of accounting information systems

  • Self-directed problem solver showing individual initiative with strong work ethic

  • Experienced in presenting effectively and convincingly

  • Naturally curious regarding cause and effect, developing models as a result 

  • Able to analyze data and draw insightful inferences from them

  • A professional communicator orally and in writing

  • Compelling leadership in both formal and informal roles

Ideally, the candidate will be located within commutable distance to Nashville, TN, however, we are open to remote for the right candidate.
