Summary:

-Develops and assists with the administration of radiation therapy treatment plans in collaboration with the medical physicist and radiation oncologist.

Responsibilities:

Assists with or performs the fabrication of beam modifying devices and immobilization devices.Assists with or performs quality assurance of radiation treatment plans.Provides technical support for radiation protection procedures and qualitative machine calibrations of the radiation oncology equipment.Assists with or performs the application of specific methods of dosimetry, including intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy procedures.Designs a treatment plan to deliver a prescribed radiation dose and fields to a defined tumor volume.

Education and Certification Requirements:

Accredited Program (Required)BLS American Heart E-Card (BLS AHA ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard (BLS AHA) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) - Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB)

Additional Job Information:

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a Radiation Therapist with dosimetry training or one (1) year of experience as a Dosimetrist or graduate from a Medical Dosimetry Program. Other Information: **Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) from the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) or Radiation Technologist with dosimetry training or graduate from a Medical Dosimetry Program.Additional Education Info: Dosimetry Training Program or Radiation Therapy
