Are you a college student interested in a career in healthcare? Join our Float Team as a Patient Care Assistant and gain valuable clinical experience working alongside nurses and other healthcare professionals in a hospital setting.

This role is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing degrees in nursing, pre-med, healthcare administration, exercise science, public health, or other healthcare-related fields. No CNA certification is required.

PLEASE NOTE: You will need to be able to maintain this schedule throughout the year. This is not a summer only position.

Pay Range: $16.88 - $23.64/hour

Employment Type: Limited Hours

Schedule: 7:00 pm - 7:30 am

PCA Student Position/Flex Info: Flex PCAs must work a minimum of 144 hours in their first 6 weeks after orientation. After that requirement has been fulfilled, the minimum requirement is 24 hours on nights in a 6 week cycle. There is no weekend requirement. Must work one 12 hour holiday.

Requirements: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required or proof of higher education, BLS for the Healthcare Provider by 60 days after hire required.

Scheduling Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in college (healthcare-related majors preferred)

  • Available to complete 144 hours in the first 6 weeks after orientation and training

  • Maintain a minimum of 24 hours worked every 6 weeks after completing initial 144 hours

  • Work one 12-hour holiday shift annually

What You Will Do

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will:

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, feeding, grooming, oral care, and mobility

  • Measure and document vital signs, intake/output, height, weight, and other patient information

  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges

  • Collect specimens and perform basic clinical procedures as delegated

  • Observe patients and promptly report changes in condition to the nursing team

  • Accurately document patient care activities in the electronic medical record

  • Support a safe, compassionate, and positive patient experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or proof of higher education required

  • Current enrollment in a college or university program

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers required within 60 days of hire
