We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Designer to join our Design Systems team. As a Principal Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Yahoo's design system, ensuring it remains innovative, user-friendly, and cohesive across all our products and platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and other designers, to create and maintain a world-class design system that enhances our user experience and brand consistency.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate the design of Yahoo’s design system, including visual style, UI components, and interaction patterns.
Establish and maintain design guidelines, best practices, and standards.
Collaborate with product designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and implementation of the design system across all products.
Conduct regular audits and usability testing to ensure the design system meets user needs and maintains a high level of quality.
Mentor and provide guidance to other designers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in design systems and user experience design.
Advocate for the value and importance of a design system to stakeholders across the company.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
4+ years of experience in UI/UX design, with experience working on design systems.
Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in creating and maintaining design systems for large-scale products.
Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools.
Excellent understanding of front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and their impact on design.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and advocate for user-centered design.
Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

The compensation for this position ranges from $143,625.00 - $299,375.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
