Position Title

Trade Marketing Manager – Emerging Market

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and autonomous Trade Marketing Manager to lead trade activation and retail execution for our market-leading pool care brands HTH and Kreepy Krauly in South Africa.

This is a senior-level, high-impact position within the Eurasia Marketing organization, created as part of the regional marketing consolidation. The role is critical to ensuring strong field marketing support, driving sell-in and sell-out performance, and defending market share in a highly competitive retail environment.

Operating in a market where HTH holds a dominant position, this role requires a strong commercial mindset focused not only on growth, but on brand defense, premium positioning, and sustainable return on investment.

You will act as the key liaison between Marketing, Sales, and retail/distributor partners, ensuring that all trade activities align with strategic objectives and reinforce brand strength in-store.

This role reports into the Marketing organization (PS France Marketing) and works closely with cross-functional stakeholders locally and regionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the trade marketing strategy for HTH and Kreepy Krauly in South Africa
  • Lead end-to-end trade activation campaigns (concept to execution to post-analysis)
  • Drive in-store excellence through POS materials, displays, retail animations, and promotional support
  • Collaborate closely with Sales teams to align activation plans with customer strategies
  • Manage and optimize trade marketing budgets, ensuring disciplined ROI tracking
  • Brief and coordinate external agencies for creative development and activation materials
  • Ensure brand consistency in all trade activities, in collaboration with Brand Management
  • Present and justify activation plans and investment proposals to senior stakeholders
  • Support selected export markets (Sub-Sahara Africa and Indian Ocean Islands) with marketing materials where required
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and retail execution performance

Profile & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field
  • 8–10+ years of experience in Trade Marketing or Marketing within FMCG or mass retail environments
  • Strong knowledge of the South African retail landscape (e.g., national retail chains)
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end trade campaigns
  • Demonstrated budget ownership and ROI accountability
  • Ability to influence and constructively challenge cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and structured approach
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • High level of autonomy and accountability

Experience in the chemical industry is not required; strong trade and retail experience is essential.

This is a senior Trade Marketing role focused on retail activation, budget ownership, and cross-functional leadership.

It is not a pure Brand Management role, not a Sales role, and not a corporate sustainability or communications position.

Successful candidates will demonstrate hands-on experience managing trade campaigns in a mass retail environment, owning budgets, influencing Sales teams, and delivering measurable activation results.

Applicants without direct trade marketing experience in retail environments may find this role is not aligned with their background.
