Summary of the position:

The Duty Drawback Specialist is responsible for managing the duty drawback program for Hitachi Global Air Power (HGAP). The Duty Drawback Specialist works closely with the import and export teams, import brokers, freight service providers, IT/SAP teams, and other departments within HGAP to gather, compile, and submit data for the program. It is a contract position with the potential to become full-time based on the projected annual return of the program.

This position is located in Michigan City, Indiana.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Do all the work necessary to implement the duty drawback program for HGAP (and maintain the same).
  • Work with the import/export teams for shipment data.
  • Work directly with import brokers to gather relevant import data.
  • Work within HGAP’s ERP system(s) to gather relevant receiving, inventory, and export data.
  • Work directly with export freight service providers to gather export data including proof of export.
  • Take all gathered data and arrange it in the required format for our broker to file.
  • Work with the broker and customs on any duty drawback claim audits.
  • Create and maintain SOPs or other standard work documentation for the duty drawback specialist role.
  • Cross train on import/export/compliance tasks as necessary to provide backup for that team.
  • Perform any other duty drawback or logistics-related tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Associate degree or other post high school training/experience – 2 years minimum

Professional experience:

  • 2+ years working with a duty drawback program preferred

Key Skills:

  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word
  • SAP knowledge preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
