Job Description

The Assistant Director of Campus Recreation Facility Operations, reporting to the Associate Director of Operations-Campus Recreation, will help direct facility operations for Campus Recreation. This includes the areas of Facility Operations, coordinating custodial operations, facility work orders, daily management of equipment maintenance, Campus Recreation Center special projects, Esports Lounge, Fort Worth campus recreation facilities, facility reservations and all other shared recreation facilities are managed through this position.

This is an in-office position located in Stephenville, Texas. Work hours include Monday to Friday; from 8am to 5pm. This position requires a flexible work schedule, which at times will require frequent evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Travel to the Fort Worth Campus periodically. Additional hours may be required during peak periods. Must be able to work remotely at the request of the University.

Responsibilities
40% Administration:

  • Manage the Student Recreation Center 90,000 sq. ft. facility at the Stephenville campus (multi-sport courts, racquetball courts, fitness and weight room, climbing center, Aquatic Center, track, multipurpose rooms, boxing area, and support facilities to include policies and procedures, risk management, budgets, and staffing and training.

  • Support the facility and maintain equipment at the Fort Worth Campus.

  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate approximately 60 undergraduate employees and 1 graduate assistant

  • Assist with all student development and continuing education efforts

  • Conduct regular meetings with student staff

  • Develop curriculum/master calendar for student staff development and implement for Facility Operations staff

  • Ensure staff compliance with industry standard safety and risk management practices, facility inspections, and established university policies and procedures

  • Oversee and ensure all student staff are compliant with safety and risk management practices

  • Responsible for tracking and reporting of facility counts including entries, tours and event participation

  • Manage the facility master schedule, reservation and solicitation process, and risk management plans for Stephenville and Fort Worth Campus Recreation Center

  • Assist with coordinating program strategic planning including data collection and forecast for major facility and program expansions

  • Co-manage and coordinate facility reservation process of all shared athletic, academic and campus recreation sport facilities

  • Manage facility memberships services

  • Train and mentor student employees with Fusion campus recreation software

  • Record and enter work orders for all Campus Recreation facilities

  • Work with Campus Operations on university facility initiatives

  • Attend regular University Risk Management meetings

  • Review Facilities policies and procedures

  • Assist in Risk Management assessment of Facilities

20% Facility/Equipment:

  • Purchase and maintain large sport, fitness, programming, facility, custodial, camp and maintenance equipment for department

  • Maintain inventory of Campus Recreation equipment in Stephenville and Fort Worth

  • Maintain and implement building systems and equipment replacement plans for department facilities

  • Develop and oversee annual service and project contracts for department facilities and operations

  • Develop and oversee annual service and project contracts for technology

  • Provide recommendations for space utilization to develop efficient and effective programs

  • Ensure compliance of staff with industry standard safety and risk management practices, facility inspections, and established Campus Recreation policies & procedures

15% Accounting/Assessment:

  • Forecast, prepare and administer $300,000 in revenue and expense budgets

  • Oversee Facilities income projections and monitor fiscal year comparisons

  • Oversee semester and annual program evaluations, assessments, and outcomes

  • Assessment creation and development

  • Approve staff time and ensure compliance with payroll and purchasing processes

  • Assist with coordinating department strategic planning

15% Professional Development:

  • Participate in NIRSA and other recreation field related committees and conferences

  • Present at professional conferences and workshops

  • Benchmark other institutions to learn, compare and evaluate programs and facilities

  • Maintain communication with colleagues in the field of campus recreation.

10% Other:

  • In accordance with the Division of Student Engagement and Success/Department of Campus Recreation Strategic Plan, other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Six years of related experience

Certifications:

  • First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or obtained within the first 90 days of hire

  • First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certification or obtained within the first 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of campus recreation as demonstrated by a minimum of 2 years of full-time employment in a college or University level campus recreation program

  • College/university facilities experience

  • American Red Cross CPR/AED, First Aid certified

  • American Red Cross CPR/AED, First Aid Instructor

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range

The target base annual salary range is $47,000 to $61,940.50 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
