Description

The ASU/PACU Registered Nurse is accountable for providing high-quality, individualized, goal-directed care for patients of all age levels and their families throughout the Perioperative continuum of care:  Pre-op, PACU phase I, and PACU phase II.

License/Certification

  • Current Illinois Registered Professional Nurse Licensure
  • American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification
  • AHA ACLS preferred (must obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • AHA PALS preferred (must obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • CPAN/CAPA certification preferred

Education/Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • BSN preferred
  • At least one year of experience as a staff nurse
  • ASC, Pre-op, PACU, ICU, Telemetry, Acute Care inpatient surgical nursing preferred
  • Demonstrates mastery of nursing skills
  • Communicates effectively and is able to guide non-nursing personnel

  • Integrates ethical provisions in all areas of nursing practice
  • Integrates evidence-based practice and research findings into nursing practice
  • Recognizes and adjusts to situations that vary from the norm
  • Promotes safety measures to prevent patient and staff injuries
  • Guides and supervises staff in the provision of patient care
  • Enhances own professional growth and development
  • Maintains a safe, therapeutic working environment and recognizes need for action in emergency situations
  • Documentation is thoroughly and timely completed
  • Positively contributes to safety outcomes and promoting high-quality patient experience
