What you will do

The OpenBlue Data & Analytics team at Johnson Controls believes in the power of data to shape and steer business decisions. A data enabled business needs analysts to wrangle, organize, and use powerful visualization tools to derive actionable insights and patterns from the data. And that is where you come in.

As a Data Analyst (New Grad) in our new team, you will work with Data product owners, Data engineers & architects, and IT teams to gather, catalog, model and create descriptive as well as diagnostic analytics products. You will also have the creative freedom to choose the best visualization approach that allows further analysis. To be successful in this role, you need to have an interest in data analysis, communicating with stakeholders and data owners, a passion for learning various Business Intelligence tooling and databases.

How you will do it

  • Using a combination of data mining, statistical and exploratory data analysis, develop an understanding of the data requirements required to answer business questions
  • Based on business requirements, develop manual and automated scorecards and dashboards using internal and external data marts
  • Understand and recommend data standardization to ensure repeatability and reusability of data products
  • Participate in design of data marts and develop data contracts used in different places of a data pipeline
  • Design visualizations apt for answering the business question in consideration, and publish quality analytics to include weekly, monthly, or yearly dashboards with KPIs used by the business owners to improve their processes and operations

What we look for

Required

  • BS in Computer Science/Electrical or Computer Engineering, Statistics or has a degree and demonstrated technical abilities in similar areas
  • 3+ years of total experience in Data Analyst, Business Intelligence
  • 1+ years of experience in Database, Data Model and Data Warehouse
  • Knowledge in Data platforms using PaaS services provided by public clouds such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience in languages such as Python, SQL.
  • Knowledge in Dimensional Modelling, Datamart and different Data Modelling Techniques.
  • Experience in building reports, KPI scorecards, and dashboards using Power BI desktop.
  • Good understanding of PowerBI Workspace and Administration.
  • Knowledge in creating Dataset, Transformation, Dataflow, Measure Calculation on the dataset using PowerBI.
  • Knowledge on the ETL processing pipelines and dbt.
  • Experience in transforming data through SQL queries.
  • Good Experience in PowerBI, DAX Queries, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Tableau.
  • Knowledgeable in the SCRUM/Agile development methodology
  • A passion for all things Data - including Analytics, translating data into informative reports and visuals.
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills
