This Education Coordinator oversees the daily functions of Medical Assistant apprenticeship and extern student clinical rotation programs. Responsibilities include managing scheduling and practice requests for assigned staff, supporting MA clinical skills development, addressing concerns and remediation needs, and engaging in recruitment and other clinical competency initiatives for Corewell Health.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Education Program Manager, the Education Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Medical Assistant (MA) float pool, MA intern and extern student clinical rotation programs, and orientation and onboarding of new hire float pool MAs. Enters, monitors and maintains schedules, practice requests and Kronos for designated employees. Assists practices with MA clinical competencies, concerns and remediation. Participates in recruitment activities, all hiring activities and evaluations, and other clinical competency programs for the Beaumont Medical Group (BMG).

Essential Functions
  • Serves as a liaison for MA student placements and coordinates clinical experiences/rotations within Corewell Health to ensure students, apprentices, and others are properly allocated. Manages clinical rotation schedules and practice requests while acting as a liaison with Talent Acquisition to assist with hiring and placement post-training.

  • Maintains records related to MA student affiliations, such as clinical schedules, assignments, student/faculty access lists, and orientation documents, in accordance with Corewell Health records retention policies.

  • Works alongside Talent Acquisition and Resource Center to support the new grad/MA float pools.

  • Collaborates with vocational schools to enhance learning for MA students. Consistently evaluates and improves clinical experiences for them. Stays current on academic events impacting clinical opportunities. Regularly communicates with MA school reps about updates or changes. Collaborates with faculty members, MA students, Corewell Health's clinical operations and practice leaders to address issues or concerns and enhance clinical experiences.

  • Represents Corewell Health on MA program advisory committees and school partnerships, such as job fairs and recruitment sessions.

  • Collaborates with legal to ensure that Master Academic Affiliation Agreements are in place or are requested for partnering academic institutions and are comprehensive and current.

  • Handles responsibilities associated with MA skills validation, such as ordering and inventory of supplies, room scheduling, necessary paperwork, schedules, and mandatory competency requirements.

  • Manages the BLS program for CH ambulatory, which includes coordinating schedules, ensuring the appropriate placement of manikins, and regularly verifying that stations are fully stocked with necessary supplies.

Qualifications

  • One of the following Required within 120 Days:

  • AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

  • AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)

  • NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA)

  • NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)

  • NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) And

  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 120 Days
