The Senior Software Engineer will advance the capabilities of meteorology and oceanography (METOC) communities by providing software design, development, and maintenance with a geospatial emphasis.  The position focuses on design and development of front-end user interfaces, geoprocessing tools, and backend data processing. This on-site position is located at NASA’s Stennis Space Center, supporting the Commander, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (CNMOC) and the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO).

This is a full-time on-site position with options for telework based on project timelines.

Required Experience:
•    Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or another relevant technical field
•    Experience with object-oriented programming languages
•    Minimum 7 years of experience in software development or a related field

Desired Qualifications:
•    Experience with:
o    Programming languages such as Python or C/C++
o    Linux-based operating systems and shell scripting
o    Web development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
o    Developing and performing test plans, test cases, and code reviews
o    Application hardening and security
•    Self-motivated individual able to take initiative and set own schedules
•    Strong oral and written communication skills
•    Currently active Secret security clearance
