Position Summary...

The Sr. Manager, Merchandise Strategy/Concept Development designs, develops and executes forward looking strategies that are aligned with the merchandise GMM’s 3-5 year plan. This role will create strategies for complex categories, as determined by established sales, qualitative, and quantitative criteria, in partnership with cross-functional specialist teams that achieve profit and loss deliverables. This individual will support the creation of the SVP’s 3year AOP, and see all new merchandise concepts and tests end-to-end, ensure that they are executed, validated, and ready to be executed into business as usual.

Successfully plan, resource, and deliver merchandising concept development projects as per the Merchandising AOP. Key stakeholder in AOP discussions to ensure projects are aligned to strategic plan; Manage the merchandising budget to support investments in remodels. End to end ownership of concept development process including business case development, capital trade-off decisions, implementation planning; Influence cross functional groups like Finance, Technology, Legal, Construction, Ops for successful implementation. Influence merchandising GMMs and DMMs to build pipeline of projects/concepts that support remodel projects ambitions for store space and 3rd party partnerships.

What you'll do...

Strategy, Program, and Investment Management:

1. Support SBU SVPs with development / update of SBU 3 year strategy, AOP, Customer Value proposition; Lead all SBU strategic reviews with internal management

2. Own planning and update of long / short term $ investment (CapEx, OpEx) scorecard for Merchandising SBU projects; Program lead for SBU projects, as assigned

Innovation/Concept Development & Execution:

3. Develop best practices for Innovation Pipeline and new Concept development for Merchandising SBUs; Partner with external companies / other Walmart countries on concept development

4. End to end ownership of concept development and implementation including business case development, capital trade-off decisions, implementation planning, collaborate with cross functional groups like Finance, ISD, Legal, Construction, Ops for successful implementation;

5. Tracking KPIs for projects implemented for gating National scale-up of successful concepts

Supercenter Template & Guiding Principles

6. Own and update 'Guiding Principles' by department / category while challenging core Merchants to think differently & optimize

7. Own Super Center Template review process and communication of approved elements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma
  • 5-10 Years Retail Experience with Strategy development and proven execution leading large projects and initiatives
  • 5-10 Years Leadership Experience, demonstrated success leading cross-functional project teams with a strong ability to influence
  • Strong Team leader with experience in coaching and collaborating in large team settings
  • Excellent Presentation skills and communication skills
