The Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented bilingual Junior Mainframe CICS System Programmer to join our team. In this role, the candidate will work closely with senior system programmers to support and maintain our subsystems environment. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in mainframe systems with hands-on experience, structured training and mentorship.
The CICS is part of the subsystems on Mainframe and we are dedicated to work in a strategic outsourcing client that permits a constant evolution in skills including security.
As a Junior Mainframe CICS System Programmer you will learn the essential technical and analytical skills required to ensure the smooth operation of the relational database management system. IBM CICS is one of the most powerful, reliable, and scalable database platforms for mainframe. Responsibilities:
Assist with the administration, maintenance, and optimization of CICS on the mainframe platform
Learn to monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues to ensure maximum efficiency
Collaborate with senior DBAs and stakeholders to support application development and database design processes
Perform database back-up and recovery tasks under guidance
Participate in training and development programmes to build expertise in CICS and Mainframe environments
Documents CICS processes, configurations and troubleshooting steps
Raise and manage change records using change request tool
Investigate and resolve CICS related incidents and problems, ensuring updating ticket records and closed in a timely manner.
Train for on-call rotation support 24/7
Who You Are
Requirements:
A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Up to 3 years of experience—internships, co-ops, or academic projects count!
Interest in mainframe systems and enterprise technology
A problem-solving mindset and eagerness to tackle technical challenges
Basic understanding of database concepts
Strong communication skills—both written and verbal
French language proficiency is required
A team-first attitude and openness to feedback
Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment
(This position requires the employee to work on a regular basis with Kyndryl stakeholders located in other Canadian provinces, the United States, or internationally where English is the common language, making knowledge of the English language a requirement for this position in addition to fluency in French.)
