Job Description​

Saint Luke’s Hospital is currently hiring an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Trainee. 

This position is a 12-week paid training program which will prepare you to work as a pharmacy technician within a health system (inpatient, retail, oncology). The program is composed of classroom learning, hands-on simulations, and experiential training with high-performing technicians. Each week will provide new learning opportunities. You will learn to fill automated dispensing cabinets and deliver medications to various units within the hospital. You will have the learn to perform sterile compounding of medications for intravenous administration.  This is a customer facing position where you will answer questions from various medical staff members.  Upon completion of the training program, the trainee will take a national certification examination for pharmacy technicians and have the opportunity to transition to a full-time position within one of the retail or inpatient pharmacies within Saint Luke’s Health System at one of the following locations:

  • Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City
  • Saint Luke’s North
  • Saint Luke’s East
  • Saint Luke’s South
  • Saint Luke’s Advanced Care Pharmacy

 Shift Details:  Full Time Days

Responsibilities:

  • Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, performs all duties associated with compounding, dispensing,  and delivery of medications to patient care areas.
  • All medications are checked for accuracy by a pharmacist or designee per the rules and regulations of the State Board of Pharmacy prior to leaving the Department of Pharmacy.

Cert Pharmacy Tech from PTCB - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, Pharmacy Technician (MO) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
