The Project Intermediate Analyst is a developing professional role. Deals with most problems independently and has some latitude to solve complex problems. Integrates in-depth specialty area knowledge with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices. Good understanding of how the team and area integrate with others in accomplishing the objectives of the subfunction/ job family. Applies analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies. Requires attention to detail when making judgments and recommendations based on the analysis of factual information. Typically deals with variable issues with potentially broader business impact. Applies professional judgment when interpreting data and results. Breaks down information in a systematic and communicable manner. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to exchange potentially complex/sensitive information. Moderate but direct impact through close contact with the businesses' core activities. Quality and timeliness of service provided will affect the effectiveness of own team and other closely related teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to work flow or process change and redesign, and to forms a strong basic understanding of the specific product or process associated with a project under management.
  • Collects, measures, and analyzes project performance data.
  • Identifies, tracks, and closes project issues.
  • Ensures creation of project scope management plan.
  • Creates project schedule management plan.
  • Ensures corrective action is taken when project schedule variances occur create project cost estimates.
  • Tracks actual project costs, identify variances, and reforecast project costs as needed.
  • Creates the project quality management plan.
  • Identifies quality standards and metrics relevant to the project and how to meet them.
  • Identifies project risks, perform probability and impact analysis, determine responses to risks, track risks, and execute responses as needed.
  • Accountable for regular reporting or process administration as owner.
  • May direct day-to-day work of junior level employees, but will not typically have formal management role.
  • Exhibits strong basic executional and increasing project ownership capabilities.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst experienced in Cognos suite responsible for maximizing the value of our business intelligence and analytics solutions by improving current technology features, business strategy, design, development, controls, and self-service workflows. Responsibilities include collecting feature requests, scheduling releases, and coordinating sprints. To be successful in this role, you must be able to identify user needs and work with cross-functional teams to train business users and manage product releases using best practices. Ultimately, you will help us implement products and deliver innovative strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Incorporate feature requests into the product roadmap.
  • Team leader capable of defining epics, functionalities and tasks with agile methodologies.
  • Analyzes business requirements and translates them into high-level design.
  • Clearly articulates the rationale for decisions from the business level to the technical level.
  • Design, develop and deliver ad hoc dashboards using Cognos tool.
  • Define quality criteria for the presentation of data in Cognos.
  • Work with business teams of data and BI professionals across the organization.
  • Collaborate within technical teams such as data architects, data modelers, ETL developers, BI developers, project managers and platform architects.
  • Define self-service flows and strategies to improve the adoption of Cognos tool.
  • Create and support Cognos documentation and training.
  • Lead meetings and work sessions to resolve problems, challenges and risks; taking into account the contributions of partners and diverse points of view.
  • Facilitates meetings with decision makers, technology owners, suppliers and end users to define objectives and requirements.
  • Advise direct team members and indirect team members in Cognos usage.
  • Track new trends in Cognos BI industry such new versions and tool attributes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Analysis, Information Systems or related discipline.
  • Experience in implementing, personalizing and optimizing BI solutions using Cognos tool.
  • Familiarity with Agile is a plus.
  • In-depth understanding of financial models, knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and how to apply the techniques to generate substantial business results.
  • Practical experience in managing all stages of the product life cycle.
  • Technical experience with familiarity with relevant data technologies, structured/unstructured databases, data modeling, data management, rapid/iterative development methodologies and data governance tools; Preferable to have worked with Teradata, Oracle, Datalake and in enterprise BI tools such as Cognos Analytics.
  • Knowledge of the different Cognos development modules is desirable: Cognos Framework Manager, Cognos Report Studio, having the ability to create packages in Framework Manager or PowerPlay (query data in Packages, be able to create a data source connection in PowerPlay or Framework Manager).
  • Experience designing and supporting self-service development workflows for user management.
  • Strong knowledge of delivering high-level standardized analytics across all areas of the organization, with specialized reporting solutions by area, including general management.
  • Demonstrated strong presentation skills, business and technical writing, and verbal communication skills to support decision making and actions.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to recognize and understand complex designs and data flows.
  • Team spirit and strong communication skills.
  • Excellent relationship management, communication and presentation skills.
  • English fluent.
