The American Red Cross is currently seeking a full-time SAF Regional Program Specialist to support the Service to the Armed Forces program in Kunsan, Korea. This is a full-time position and is part of our mobile staff, which requires strict medical and security clearances, as well as the condition of worldwide deployment as needed.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

The SAF Regional Program Specialist establishes, strengthens, and grows American Red Cross programs and services to meet the needs of United States military members and their families in accordance with Red Cross policies and procedures. This is accomplished through working with volunteers and other Red Cross departments to support strong visibility for SAF programs throughout the Sasebo area.

Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.

Relationship Management Support and Community Outreach:  Supports building relationships with military leadership, key organizations and community leaders.  Cultivates relationships and partnerships with external constituents in the local community, including military commands, government organizations, corporate partners, civic organizations and other community charitable and nonprofit agencies with the purpose of furthering the mission of the Red Cross. Outreach includes command meetings, education briefings, presentations or information sessions.

Volunteer Management Support:  Supports a volunteer program and supervises volunteer staff to meet the workforce model and to enable delivery of SAF programs and services. Helps ensure volunteer staff ratio reflects the diversity of the population being served.

Service Delivery:  Ensures the delivery of SAF core services to all clients within their jurisdiction. Supports the delivery of Whole Health, Training Services, Youth Preparedness, and disaster preparedness and response programs and services. Services may include use of case management system, presenting briefings, collection of data, providing needed materials, and outreach within the community.

Reporting & Admin Support:  Monitors and reports on the outcomes and results of programs and services to ensure organizational accountability and makes recommendations for continuous improvement to ensure metrics are consistently met. 

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Education: Bachelor’s degree

Experience: Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

Must have a valid driver's license.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage volunteer staff.

  • Strong computer skills.

  • Excellent public speaking and written/verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to work well in an individual or team environment.

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities.

  • Experience with American Red Cross programs and services is desired.

  • Familiarity with military culture, regulations, and protocol strongly desired.

Mobile position requirements: 

  • U.S. citizenship is required. Must be able to obtain a secret security clearance and a no-fee U.S. passport.

  • Mobility is a condition of employment and an essential function of this position.

  • Must accept work assignments to deployment locations in or near conflict areas, where the American Red Cross is providing services to members of the military.

  • Must meet strict medical and physical requirements, including immunizations required by the U.S. military.

  • May be required to wear military uniforms, and live and work in harsh and stressful environment in conflict areas

The American Red Cross is currently seeking a term-limited, full-time, SAF - IS Regional Program Mobile Specialist to support the Service to Armed Forces and International Services (SAF-IS) mission at Kunsan Air Base, Korea. The candidate should be local to the area. The position is unaccompanied, with relocation expenses, and housing on base provided.

* Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic).  The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
