Business Overview:
The Operations Tax team manages all aspects of Fidelity Clearing Canada duties relevant to estate/tax management and reporting. The team is responsible for tax slip production & distribution to all clients as well as managing Estates. The roles within the team interface with tax authorities, including withholding tax remittance, reconciliation and audits with tax authorities. The team has direct contact with FCC’s clients on all estate and tax matters. This roles within the team are responsible for ensuring that Fidelity's brand and reputation are protected by adhering to Fidelity's compliance and risk framework.
Role Overview:
The Operational Tax Specialist is expected to be the subject matter expert in 1 or more of the 3 main areas of team focus. In addition, the individual provides backup as needed for the other areas as needed. The role is expected to liaise with other internal groups to ensure efficient and accurate processes that make the most sense from a client and regulatory aspect. The role will also get involved with documentation review/update, projects and other tasks as assigned.
What You Will Do:
The Operations Tax team is responsible for:
Tax Reporting - Canada & US
Assist with the creation and delivery of estate tax slips.
Provides backup for the tax areas as needed.
Involved with documentation review/update, projects and other tasks as assigned.
Manage, oversee and ensure accurate completion of all Canadian and US tax reporting. Manage all client critical year-end processes for accuracy.
Canadian tax reporting and delivery cycle function, including but not limited to the following: T5/R3, T3/R16, T5013/R15, T5008 NR4, T4RSP, T4RIF
US tax reporting and delivery cycle function, including but not limited to the following: 1099INT, DIV and B, 1042S, form 1042 and 945
Contribution Receipts
Estate Receipts
Compliance and Regulatory Environment
Maintenance of satisfactory internal and external Audit/Regulatory/Risk Ratings and Reviews
Ensure all reporting is completed on or before regulatory deadlines
Stay current with regulatory environment governing tax responsibilities
Accountable for identifying issues and risks (financial & regulatory)
Ensure all internal and external tax accounts are reconciled
Customer Service
Be a role model for our employees for delivering stellar quality customer service interactions to our internal and external customers to exceed their expectations and create a positive experience
