This position reports to:

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success with technology and product development. Each day, you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems. You will also showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both independently and as a part of a Research & Development (R&D) team.
ABB's Distribution Solutions Division facilitates the efficient and reliable distribution, protection and control of power by improving electric power quality while strengthening the resilience of the grid. The Division offers segment-specific products and solutions that largely serve utilities, industry and infrastructure segments, often providing the requisite medium-voltage link between high-voltage transmission systems and low-voltage users. With ABB Ability™ enabled connected solutions at its core, the offering includes medium-voltage air- and gas-insulated switchgear (1 to 66 kilovolts), indoor and outdoor circuit breakers, reclosers, fuses, contactors, relays, instrument transformers, sensors, motor control centers, as well as low-voltage switchgear for the ANSI standard markets.

This role is contributing to the Electrification Distribution Solutions Division worldwide. Main stakeholders is R&D organization.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Working as an independent and reliable contributor in R&D projects with limited supervision.
Leading or supporting R&D teams with cost reduction activities for energy distribution products (following Design for Assembly, Design for Manufacturing analysis, Should Cost analysis methodologies).
Facilitating workshops with international cross-functional teams.
Preparing documentation and presenting analysis results to customers.
Qualifications for the role:
Master degree in mechanical / electrical engineering.
You are highly skilled in and enjoy working with Design for Assembly/Manufacturing or Should cost analyses and the energy, automotive or similar market.
You are passionate about creating cost effective product concepts and looking for potential design improvements.
Ability to demonstrate up to 3-4 years of experience in product or part designing.
Analytical but also out of box thinking is your nature.
You are at ease communicating in English.
