Scope and summary of the role

Junior System Engineer will be based at Gunvor’s office in Istanbul and will report to the IT System lead. The Junior System Engineer is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure globally. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.

The primary role is to be the main point of contact for the level 2 support for the Istanbul office and work with the system engineering team on all 3rd-level infrastructure support. Also provide telephone/email/remote technical support to other offices as required for centralized systems accessible globally, e.g., email, active directory, virtualization, etc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 2nd level support to the Istanbul office.

  • Day to day operations on M365 products (Intune, Exchange, One drive & Teams)

  • Day-to-day operations on infrastructure requests using ticketing system ServiceNow.

  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

  • Administer, maintain, deploy, and enhance server products and platforms (Physical and virtual servers and storage)

  • Upgrade and configure system software that supports Gunvor business applications.

  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis following change management procedures.

  • Oversee the personnel responsible for creating, changing, and deleting user accounts per request (including Active Directory and SharePoint).

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server recourses, and system and application logs.

  • Recommends / Establishes policies on system use and services.

  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.

  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.

  • Develop and maintain documentation of infrastructure.

  • Escalate problems to management, if necessary

  • Collaborate with Global IT

  • Ensure that systems are managed per established SLA (Service Level Agreement)

  • Support for global deployment will require off-hours support across multiple time zones.

About you

  • Experience managing/deploying Microsoft Windows servers

  • Experience on IT support level

  • 3+ years’ in a support role

  • First experience in a system engineer position with Microsoft Windows Servers

  • First experience and support in administering VMWARE, and VEEAM.

  • Experience with storage systems

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written) and work in an international / multi-cultural environment

  • Knowledge of Change Management and Incident Management procedure

  • MCSE certificate will be highly desirable

  • Excellent communication skill

  • Excellent problem-solving skills required

  • Must be a strong team player
