About the Opportunity

As a Food Safety Specialist, you are responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and continuously improving food safety and due diligence processes within the Iberia and Morocco region. You play a key role in ensuring compliance with legislation, customer requirements, and internal quality standards.

You work within defined procedures while proactively identifying and implementing improvements. With your understanding of processes and stakeholder needs, you help ensure reliable and safe product flows from growers to customers.


 

 

Responsibilities

Due diligence & supplier management

  • Ensure timely and complete grower due diligence in line with customer requirements

  • Coordinate sampling activities (planning, communication with growers and laboratories), review results, and follow up on deviations

  • Collect and manage certifications from growers and partners

  • Maintain and update the grower matrix for the region

Audits & compliance

  • Develop and monitor the annual internal food safety audit plan

  • Conduct internal audits and spot checks when required

  • Monitor and follow up on non-conformities in collaboration with the technical auditor

  • Plan and coordinate social audits with external auditors and growers

Risk management & processes

  • Maintain and execute risk assessments (e.g. HACCP, water, residue, microbiology)

  • Ensure monitoring systems are up to date with legal and customer requirements

  • Execute traceability and recall tests

Stakeholder management & communication

  • Act as backup for the Regional Compliance Manager when needed

  • Support in crisis situations (e.g. recalls, communication with authorities)

  • Provide timely and accurate communication on non-conformities and customer requirements

  • Collect, maintain, and report relevant data on growers, suppliers, and customers

Additional responsibilities

  • Support basic food safety training for growers and internal stakeholders

  • Contribute to compliance-related projects within the region and EMEA

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve food safety processes

   

Candidate Profile

Education & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Engineering, Agriculture, or a related field
  • Experience in Quality Assurance and Food Safety, preferably within the agri/food sector
  • Experience with internal auditing and quality management systems

Knowledge & skills

  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, BRC, IFS, GlobalG.A.P., etc.)
  • Experience with internal auditing
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel

Languages

  • Fluent in English
  • Spanish is a plus
