Red Hat Engineering is looking for an Associate Software Quality Engineer to become part of our Authorization and Asset Inventory team.  In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse and innovative team responsible for our core authorization and asset inventory services for Red Hat's open-hybrid cloud platform, and its many surrounding integrations.

This position is focused on an early stage fine grained authorization and inventory effort that aims to be a ubiquitous solution for our customers, products, and hybrid cloud workloads.  We will be moving fast and need a skilled collaborator able to work efficiently with a remote team.

What you will bring:

  • Participate in the test planning and product planning processes

  • Develop test cases and maintain a thorough understanding of product functionality

  • Develop automated tests using Python

  • Contribute to test tooling projects related to deploying test environments/infrastructure, automating test pipelines, reporting test results, etc.

  • Integrate your tests into a continuous delivery pipeline

  • Deliver clear status for testing areas in a timely manner

  • Write clear and accurate bug reports

What you will bring:

  • Experience in software development with Go lang or similar

  • Experience in Python

  • Experience with test frameworks

  • Experience with Linux/UNIX systems -- you are comfortable working on a *nix based system and you know your way around the shell prompt.

  • Good understanding of core concepts related to application security and cloud development

  • Professional written and verbal English communication

Any of the following considered as a plus:

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, Openshift, or cloud native environments

  • Familiarity with SRE and operational aspects of running software in production

  • Experience contributing to upstream Open Source Software communities
