JOB PURPOSE: To lead, direct and participate in the design and development of customized design solutions (PVR/DTO) for release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability.

JOB DUTIES: Leads and manages the PVR Inquiries and Orders. Collaborates with Sales team & cross functional teams and engages the engineers in executing the Inquiries and Orders. Ensures both the Sales & Factory facing metrics & measures are met by aligning with the KPIs.

Conducts feasibility studies on the Sales Inquiries and ensures all the required details are captured for placing an order. Executes the order by following the design practices, prepares concept, design, development, and feasibility studies of complex engineering requests.  Delegates portions of the project to other engineers and leads and coordinates the design with other functions.  Prepares development plans and is responsible for meeting scheduled dates. Acts as the development team leader by interacting with Plant locations and various engineering departments. Conducts technical evaluations of major systems and concludes through Design Reviews.

Evaluates, defines, and resolves design and manufacturing problems by providing shop support.  Uses technical expertise and product knowledge to play the leadership role in the problem resolution process when interfacing with Test and Evaluation, Service, Plant personnel, suppliers, and consultants. Works as a SPOC for APS cross-functional teams in addressing day-to-day production and quality requirements.

Works with engineers located at Bangalore and ensures overflowing Inquiries and Orders are taken care. Conducts Quality sessions with the team and documents the RCCA, ICA and PCA. Helps team in overcoming the challenges and reducing design errors. Collaborates with Manager in resource allocation and project prioritization activities. Plays a key role in communicating the status updates to required stakeholders through weekly communications and monthly governance meetings.

Key areas of responsibility encountered in this role may include any or all of the following:

  • Lead the PVR vertical at APS and be a SPOC for Inquiries and Orders.
  • Developing and documenting functional requirements and translating into detail design documents. Participating in buy-build analysis for product components.
  • Participating in and supporting proposal preparation, cost estimates, and technical reports.
  • Supporting the Design and Development of new components, subsystems or processes.
  • Ensure internal processes are met by following compliance requirements – BIQ, Peer checks, Drawings released in TcE, Development of 3D models, Minimal to nil BOM revisions etc.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams in smooth execution of builds.
  • Address and provide timely solutions to build issues.
  • Work with suppliers in collecting Lead time and Proce details. Have gular collaboration with the suppliers to have quicker part resolutions.
  • Communicates weekly status updates and conducts monthly governance meetings.
  • Works closely with the Manager for timely completion of projects & assignments, resource allocation & project prioritization requirements.

Success factors – Demonstrating excellent analytical skills and a mastery of engineering concepts. Major challenges facing incumbents are meeting design goals for cost, reliability, performance, timelines and managing multiple priorities.

Key skills and Knowledge requirement:

  • Ability to lead and manage workload. Managing Multiple Priorities.
  • Ability to work independently on Design and provide guidance to others. Able to troubleshoot issues and provide shop support requirements.
  • Product knowledge on Gensets is a must. Handled projects related to Gensets from a technical perspective.
  • Application of GD&T and tolerance stack up.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skill.
  • Must be a team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have working knowledge of Creo & Teamcenter.

Required Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Engineering degree with 10-12 years of relevant experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering plus 8+ years of relevant experience.
