About the Role

As the Lead UX Strategist for the Transportation Mobility division, your primary responsibility will be to lead user research and design using human centered design processes. You will conduct on-site research to create exceptional user experiences and mentor and share knowledge with others. We seek someone with a growth mindset who is passionate about research and design and eager to learn.

Collaborating in a highly collaborative environment, you will partner with product, engineering and UX/UI teams to bring concepts to fruition and deliver outstanding user experiences across multiple product lines on desktop, web, and mobile platforms. You will utilize Trimble’s established design system for web and mobile, contributing your insights to improve it. This is a unique opportunity to expand your skills while working on both cross-platform and on-site solutions. 

What You Will Do

  • Conduct research on key personas, professional workflows, tasks goals, and pain points to develop innovative solutions that enhance the work of transportation professionals

  • Collaborate with stakeholders including product managers, to identify UX objectives, research and design requirements and execution.

  • Defined user research plans and lead all aspects of the research, providing hands-on work and guidance to junior team members.

  • Establish, mentor, and guide a team of junior user researchers and designers.

  • Execute user research studies both independently and by leading others.

  • Partner with Product Managers and Marketing to recruit end-users and execute the research plan.

  • Develop usability testing plans, including remote and on-site studies.

  • Create user personas, customer journeys and task workflows.

  • Utilize existing design systems to ensure consistency and alignment with other solutions.

  • Design workflows that optimize usability for the entire process.

  • Test design prototypes for usability.

  • Create low and high-fidelity designs.

  • Support the implementation of high-fidelity designs by development teams.

  • Collaborate with other UX designers to gather feedback and share knowledge.

  • Analyze research results and incorporate findings into a compelling UX strategy.

  • Develop and roll out phased project plans with existing user experience design teams to complement the UX strategy.

  • Work closely with Product Managers and Engineering leadership to jointly own the project/service strategy with the team.

What Skills and Experience You Should Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, such as user experience design, human-computer interactions, or interaction design

  • 10+ years experience in User Experience Design field, with solid experience in Figma and/or other design software OR an equivalent combination of education and related work experience

  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively work with global cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders.

  • Passion and deep experience in designing for professional users, with an understanding of workflow and customer journey analysis.

  • Solid background in human-centered design and expertise in user experience design process tools and best practices.

  • Experience creating UX strategy from research and communicating it through compelling use stories and prototypes.

  • Experience conducting research and leveraging data to inform design strategy and direction.

  • Interest or experience in the transportation domain.

  • A problem solver who enjoys working on a variety of challenges and can stay self-managed under deadlines.

  • Collaborative in spirit and open to interactions and feedback, with a team-oriented mindset.

  • A strong advocate and voice for the user, with a curious nature about the team, colleagues, and user perspectives.

  • A strong, persuasive communicator who embraces transparency and is willing to take responsibility and initiative.
