As a Commissioning Engineer with KION North America you will be the technical site lead for automated guided forklift (AGF) projects. You will be an essential member of the project engineering team with a focus on integration of automated material handling equipment systems. Your focus will be on the AGFs, their specification, their mapping, and their interface with racking, conveyor, system I/O and system software. Internally, you will support the project manager, the systems engineer, onboard and offboard software engineers, and the mechatronics engineers/technicians. Externally, you will further develop and maintain relationships with the Customer project team as their technical integration lead during the execution/commissioning phases of projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with engineering leads on technical design, development, application and implementation of integrated hardware and software systems
  • Identify and resolves complex problems through application of problem-solving skills in AGF projects/systems
  • Participate in the design of complex stand-alone and integrated AGF systems (hardware and software)
  • Develop and review project/vehicle/hardware specifications and documentation
  • Utilize AutoCAD with custom drafting tools for designing and refining system maps/layouts
  • Work with Customers on Full System Design, Approval, and Acceptance
  • Create vendor and sub-contractor requirements and tasks
  • Generate commissioning checklists and provide daily/weekly site reports
  • Perform duration testing and generate/compile reports
  • Aid Project Management in Commissioning Plans and Schedules
  • Support site personnel in system Startup and Go-Live activities
  • Develop strong customer relationships
  • Collaborate on process and productivity improvements, cost reductions, and delivery of customer satisfaction
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager

Tasks and Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering / related field, or commensurate professional experience
  • Computer skills: AutoCAD, Microsoft Office including Visio
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
  • Self-starter who will take initiative to identify issues and execute resolutions
  • Must work well under high-pressure situations

Preferred:

  • Experience with Material Handling automation equipment; preferably AGV/AGF, pallet conveyor, and/or ASRS
  • Experience with WMS, WCS, or Control Level Software
  • Architectural knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and software products
