TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST (India)

POSITION SUMMARY
This Transportation Specialist (Ocean, Air, Ground, parcel) role will deliver productivity, working capital and waste reduction commitments to an existing transportation operation and/or distribution network.  The candidate will develop and execute continuous improvement within his/her role to drive quality, safety, cost, efficiency and delivery.  The candidate will lead or support cross functional projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute transportation budget responsibilities. 
  • Develop supporting transportation productivity strategy. 
  • Executes productivity strategy that reduces cost while optimizing service, quality and working capital
  • Continuously improve operations in the areas of: cost, utilization, efficiency, safety, and operational revenue.
  • Ensures productivity strategy encompasses supply continuity & associated risk for supply base, infrastructure (ports, capacity & natural disasters etc.)
  • Enable cross-functional collaboration within Transportation to improve processes and partnership for total cost.
  • Accountable for supply chain optimization in:
    • Working Capital 
    • Productivity
    • Acquisition related synergy etc.
  • Ensure productivity and continuous improvement solutions support overall Transportation objectives.
  • Develop and implement digital, data driven solutions.
  • Develop, implement & regularly update process & procedures for root cause analysis, critical analysis & corrective action to reduce risk through compliance, safety, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other functions (e.g. Commercial, Manufacturing, etc) as well as cross functional collaboration within SBD.
  • Manage relations and expectations with third party providers, carriers, suppliers, freight brokers, etc. with the intention of maintaining and improving service levels and associated costs. Ability to hold third party providers accountable.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in transportation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or Logistics/Supply Chain Management or other closely related filed;
  • Master’s degree in supply chain/logistics and/or APICS Certification a plus
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with a global mindset
  • Experience with all modes of transportation is preferred
