This role offers a hybrid work schedule; offering the flexibility to work remotely two days a week, while providing the opportunity for in-person collaboration. Sponsorship is NOT available for this position.
The Data Privacy Specialist will report to our Senior Enterprise Data Manager and will play a crucial role in ensuring that our organization maintains the highest standards of data protection and consumer privacy. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to assess and mitigate data privacy risks.
What To Expect (Job Responsibilities)
Conduct regular data audits and assessments to ensure accurate data classification and adherence to established policies.
Classify data according to its sensitivity level and ensure it is managed according to best practices.
Collaborate with the Data Management team on the implementation of data management tools and technologies to support data classification and governance efforts.
Collaborate with the Digital Data Record Retention team on the execution of the data retention strategy.
Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) for new projects, processes, and systems.
Assess and monitor third-party vendors for compliance with privacy requirements and data protection agreements.
Evaluate the impact of emerging technologies and initiatives on data privacy and provide recommendations for mitigating privacy risks.
Assist in developing and administering privacy training and awareness campaigns.
Assist team with the implementation of the Data Protection & Privacy strategy & programs.
Communicate program progress and issue analysis to key stakeholders.
Proactively identify and solve problems related to data privacy compliance.
What Is Required (Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience in privacy compliance or a related field.
Experience with Agile software development life-cycles
General understanding of IT risk management and mitigation controls, data governance, and regulatory controls and compliance
Familiarity with data management tools, technologies, and industry standards.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication skills in English
Grows professionally by focusing on continuous improvements and staying abreast of privacy and cybersecurity issues and best practices.
How To Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience in Privacy by Design
Preferred professional certifications in data privacy, data governance, or related fields (e.g., CIPT, CIPP, CDPSE, CDMP).
