Position Summary
CVS Health is looking for an experienced finance professional with strong leadership and project management skills to manage a large team in the preparation and filing of CVS Health’s statutory and regulatory financial statements. This role serves as the lead of the reporting structure for all of CVS Health’s Statutory Entities that are largely managed out of Hartford and requires a solid understanding of Statutory Accounting Principles including latest emerging guidance from NAIC as regulations are enhanced.

This role also has accountability for the Annual Commercial Federal Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) filings:

  • The Supplemental Health Care Exhibit allows state/federal insurance regulators to evaluate health plan profitability and market share and compare financial results of health care business as reported in the annual financial statements. The federal Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) assures health insurance issuers submit data on the proportion of premium revenues spent on clinical services and quality improvement. Rebate payments to enrollees are required where the proportion falls below the applicable MLR standard.

Major Responsibilities:

  • The ideal candidate will be able to utilize influence to successfully pull together highest quality reporting packages meeting all internal/external deadlines.
  • Lead a large team of individuals that are responsible for financial statement preparation, validation and reporting for CVS Health’s legal entities in accordance with NAIC requirements and Statutory Accounting Principles
  • Effectively communicate key messages to senior management and internal/external stake holders
  • Actively interact with regulators/examiners and auditors
  • Drive best in class internal control environment and ensure integrity of financial statements
  • Drive standardization across teams


Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years accounting/financial experience, with knowledge of healthcare, managed care, insurance or financial services
  • 5+ years management/leadership experience overseeing teams
  • Experience with federal reporting such as MLR.
  • Ability to work Hybrid Model (in office Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday) - Hartford, CT


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Statutory Accounting, NAIC Rules
  • Project Management & Implementation Skills
  • CPA


Education

Bachelor's degree in math/finance/accounting/actuarial

MBA (preferred)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$157,800.00 - $363,936.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
