The Role

We are looking for a talented and driven Sous Chef to join our catering team and support the delivery of exceptional dining experiences for our employees and clients.  

This is a full-time, permanent role based in our Melbourne CBD office. Ordinary working hours will be Monday to Friday, 7am to 3pm however some flexibility to work evenings or weekends may be required on occasion.


The Sous Chef will work closely with our Head Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring that our dining and catering services are executed to the highest standards. This is a hands-on role that will involve cooking, menu planning, and maintaining a safe, efficient, and positive kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilites

  • Assist in the preparation of food for:

    • Client functions and events

    • Staff events, including morning and afternoon teas

    • Working lunches

    • Our on-site café

  • Assist in the preparation of menus for all meals and catered events

  • Mentor and train kitchen staff, ensuring smooth and efficient food production

  • Ensure food is prepared and presented according to company standards, while maintaining consistency and quality

  • Oversee kitchen hygiene, cleanliness, and compliance with Victorian health and safety regulations

  • Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment, inventory, and stock levels

  • Manage food waste and maintain cost-effective operations

  • Assist with online ordering, invoicing and pricing

  • Step in for the Head Chef when required, ensuring seamless kitchen operations

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Relevant hospitality/culinary qualification

  • 5 years full time employment experience in a fine dining, corporate or hotel kitchen environment

  • Passion for producing high quality, well-presented food

  • Strong knowledge of day-to-day kitchen operations (including invoicing) and unwavering adherence to food safety, hygiene and allergen protocols

  • Strong work ethic and an ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Excellent team work skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills
