Business Insider is hiring an IT Infrastructure and Operations Director to join our IT Group to drive innovation in IT operations, enabling scalable and secure infrastructure.

The Role & Team:

As an IT Infrastructure and Operations Director, your expertise will be critical in managing our hybrid cloud environments, optimizing systems performance, and enhancing security protocols. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of our IT infrastructure, ensuring it evolves to meet the needs of an ever-changing digital landscape.

As the IT Infrastructure and Operations leader, your work will drive key technology initiatives, positioning the company for continued growth and innovation.

This role reports directly to the VP of IT within the Engineering department. This role will be based in NYC and is a hybrid position requiring weekly attendance. Our hybrid model provides the flexibility to work remotely while maintaining strong in-person collaboration in our NYC office, ensuring a balanced and effective work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and Inspire IT Operations:

  • Lead IT teams to deliver timely and effective technical assistance, improving helpdesk operations for rapid issue resolution.
  • Mentor and develop IT teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Execute large-scale IT projects from inception to completion, even when faced with ambiguous requirements and diverse stakeholder needs.

Manage and Secure Infrastructure and Systems:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure IT infrastructure meets current and future business needs.
  • Elevate IT and network security, reliability, and scalability through best-in-class practices and technologies.
  • Implement and maintain advanced identity and access management (IAM) solutions, particularly in a macOS-only environment, securing users and assets.
  • Accelerate the deployment of CIS 18 security controls, ensuring robust protection against cyber threats and system vulnerabilities.

Drive Technological Innovation:

  • Innovate by evaluating and integrating emerging technologies to improve infrastructure capability, efficiency, and encouraging business growth.
  • Manage risk and develop security policies aligning with industry best practices, and prioritize simple, secure systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure IT infrastructure meets current and future business needs.

The Ideal Candidate Has:

  • Strong track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Deep understanding of IT infrastructure, including hybrid cloud environments, server management, and network architecture.
  • Proven experience deploying identity-based infrastructure systems, with expertise in Single Sign-On (SSO) and Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions using Okta.
  • In-depth knowledge of CIS controls and experience securing IT infrastructure.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in risk assessment and vulnerability management.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary: $140,000 - $145,000 (dependent on skills, experience, and competencies)
