Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three (3) years experience in data center operations. One (1) year leading or supervising professional staff.
Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of data center facilities, including electrical power supply and distribution, HVAC distribution and load balancing, data center IT load management and fire control systems.
Knowledge of and experience in data center operations in a supervisory or technical leadership position.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service.
Preferences:
Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP®), Certified Data Center Technician Professional (CDCTP®), or similar certification in data center operations. A solid understanding of data center IT systems. A basic understanding of data center MEP systems
BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer, BICSI Outside Cable Plant Specialist. Experience with AutoCAD and GIS-mapping products.
High level of energy, drive, enthusiasm, initiative, creativity and commitment. Ability to work in a busy environment and on own initiative, be self-motivated and flexible.
Strong organizational and project management skills to effectively lead multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
Strong customer service skills to handle high-pressure situations while effectively troubleshooting with customers.
Committed to customer satisfaction: exceptional skills in collaboration, consultation, communication, customer support, data analysis, and time management.
Additional Information:
Please note that all positions within the Division of Information Technology (DIT) have an in person component with expected time in our College Park, MD location per week. Telework is not a guaranteed work arrangement.
