About the Role: Lead Project Manager / Release Train Engineer

The Team: Digital Technology Services (DTS), under Digital Solutions within the Corporate function, enables a culture & mindset of Client-First & Architecture-First with a focus on delivering value through disciplined program and product delivery. DTS provides enterprise shared services that enable people, functions, and divisions by delivering secure, reliable, and seamless solutions to customers and our people. Within DTS, the Business Management team is committed to achieving optimal business performance, seamless vendor relationships, maintaining sound financial stewardship, and executing programs effectively to deliver value to our customers.

Responsibilities: In this position, you will be a member of the Business Management Technology Program Delivery team. You will play a crucial role in delivering projects, programs, and products within traditional project management Waterfall methodologies, Agile practices, and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).  As a result, we are looking for an individual that can function as a Project Manager with experience as a SAFe Scrum Master and SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE). Your expertise and insights will be instrumental in driving the growth and success of our Cloud & Infrastructure initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and vendors, to deliver value to our customers. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and contribute to the development of innovative solutions.

As a Project/Program Manager:

  • Lead and oversee all phases of a project’s lifecycle (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & control, and closure) using Waterfall and Agile methodologies.

  • Utilize tools, including but not limited to Serena and Azure DevOps (ADO), to govern activities and scope.

  • Set up Kick-Off and Discovery sessions with stakeholders, both within Corporate and Divisions, to gather requirements.

  • Maintain RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) and follow up to ensure transparency and accountability.

  • Create and manage project plans (including scope, timelines, resources and budget) and track progress and performance against defined goals.

  • Manage cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and communication.

  • Communicate project updates, progress, and plans to stakeholders regularly.

  • Provide regular updates to senior and potentially executive leadership including escalations when necessary.

  • Ensure the project’s deliverables meet stakeholder expectations and are aligned with S&P Global policies and standards.

As a Release Train Engineer:

  • Facilitate PI Planning and ART events and processes, supporting teams and optimizing ART Flow of value.

  • Support PI execution by tracking progress, facilitating periodic synchronization events, support ART backlog refinement, promote DevOps and continuous delivery, and coordinate planning efforts with other ARTs and/or stakeholders.

  • Act as Servant leader and coach the ART, fostering Lean-Agile mindsets and practices, collaboration, continuous flow, and relentless improvement.

  • Optimize Flow by ensuring smooth flow of value, establishing ART flow measures, accelerating flow, facilitating value stream mapping, and reducing/eliminating cross-team dependencies.
