Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic is seeking two Kennel Assistants to support our medical team, patients, and clients in our beautifully renovated hospital in the heart of New York City.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, teamwork, and being an essential part of a fast-paced, high-quality veterinary practice.

About Our Hospital

We are located in our newly renovated facility at 374 6th Ave, New York, NY, designed with both pets and team members in mind:

You’ll be joining a collaborative, supportive team that values kindness, communication, and excellent care.

What You’ll Do

As a Kennel Assistant, you’ll play a critical role in keeping the hospital flowing smoothly each day.

  • Prepare and flip exam rooms between appointments
  • Set up rooms for patient visits and procedures
  • Maintain hospital cleanliness through routine cleaning and disinfection
  • Walk dogs and provide routine patient care and observation
  • Assist with patient handling and basic restraint as needed
  • Support the medical team with patient flow and organization
  • Communicate professionally with clients in person and over the phone

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Comfort interacting with clients and pets throughout the day
  • Ability to multitask in a busy hospital environment
  • Compassion, reliability, and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

Schedule & Pay

  • Salary: $18.00-$23.00 an hour, to commensurate with experience.
  • Ideal schedules:
    • One role: Monday–Wednesday, 7:30am-7:00pm
    • One role: Thursday [7:30am-7:00pm], Friday [7:30am-6:00pm], Saturday [7:30am-5:00pm]
