This is a one-year commitment to the Pediatric Plastic Surgery Program under the direct supervision of Dr. John Girotto.

Job Summary

The plastic surgery section at Corewell Health’s Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital offers a one year funded clinical research internship.  The selected candidate will have employment and benefits through Corewell Health, access to data base and medical records, and support from clinical faculty and the office of research. We seek exceptional candidates who value independent time management, project-based goals, and enjoy a dynamic team working environment with medical students and research staff.

Essential Functions

  • Research interns are expected to participate in ongoing plastic surgery clinical research covering all aspects of plastic surgery. 
  • Development of independent areas of research interest are also encouraged. 
  • Opportunities include presenting at national and regional conferences and publishing in peer reviewed journals.
  • Interns will participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, core educational activities, labs, and grand rounds with teaching activities with the Michigan State University plastic surgery residents.

Qualifications

Required

  • Completed College
  • Enrolled in a US Medical School

Preferred

  • Experience with clinical research, IRB processes, and medical writing
