Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Client Director for Mass Transit to lead growth with priority clients and city regions across the UK & Ireland, maximizing on the significant investment in regional regeneration through mass transit solutions.

The role focuses on client leadership, account growth and opportunity conversion, acting as the senior interface for key mass transit clients and programmes. The Client Director works closely with Market, Practice and Delivery leadership to convert strategic opportunities into secured work.

This is a market‑facing, commercially accountable role with direct responsibility for client satisfaction, pipeline development and revenue growth within an agreed portfolio of priority mass transit accounts.

Your role

Key Accountabilities – Client & Account Leadership

  • Act as Client Director / Senior Account Lead for priority mass transit clients across the UK & Ireland.
  • Own and deliver account plans aligned to the Mass Transit Growth Plan and Rail & Transit strategy.
  • Build trusted relationships by enhancing existing relationships and creating new ones to maximise the opportunities for AtkinsRéalis and support the re- shaping of the market. Expanding AtkinsRéalis client base beyond traditional clients and contractors will be key
  • Represent AtkinsRéalis as a long‑term strategic partner in mass transit and placemaking‑led transport.

Key Accountabilities – Growth & Business Development

  • Lead opportunity identification, shaping and conversion within assigned client accounts.
  • Sponsor and direct major bids, ensuring strong value propositions and win strategies.
  • Work with Market and Practice leaders to prioritise must‑win opportunities.
  • Support development of partnering and alliancing strategies.
  • Support the growth of internal capabilities to deliver an aspirational market strategy.
  • Build a strong profile across AtkinsRéalis, proactively identifying and developing cross selling opportunities for the wider Group and integrating our Global Technology Centre (GTC) capability.

Key Accountabilities – Delivery Oversight & Client Satisfaction

  • Provide senior oversight for live mass transit commissions.
  • Ensure delivery teams meet client expectations and commercial objectives to deliver your revenue and EBIT commitments.
  • Proactively manage client risk, performance and reputation.

Key Accountabilities – Collaboration & Integration

  • Work with Delivery, Market and Practice leadership to support the Mass Transit Growth Plan.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs to present integrated client solutions.
  • Share client insight and lessons learned across Rail & Transit.

Key Accountabilities – Leadership & Profile

  • Act as a visible senior leader role‑modelling, safety, integrity, client focus and collaboration.
  • Support development of future client leaders and account managers.
  • Contribute to external profile‑raising and industry engagement.

Success Measures

  • Revenue growth and pipeline conversion within assigned accounts.
  • Strength and depth of senior client relationships.
  • Client satisfaction, repeat work and framework positions.
  • Bid sponsorship effectiveness and win performance.

About you

Skills, Experience & Background – Essential

  • Senior client or account leadership experience in mass transit, light rail, tram or BRT.
  • Proven track record of growing public‑sector transport clients.
  • Strong understanding of UK & Ireland transport authorities and procurement.
  • Commercial acumen and experience sponsoring major bids.
  • Experience supporting placemaking‑led or city‑scale transport programmes.
