Job Description

General Summary of Position Responsibility:

The Senior BI Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions that provide actionable insights to support decision-making within the organization. This role involves working closely with stakeholders, data analysts, and other IT professionals to ensure the delivery of accurate and timely reports, dashboards, and data visualizations. The Senior BI Developer also mentors less experienced BI developers and provides advice, guidance, feedback, and support.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data and reporting requirements.

  • Design and develop data models, ETL processes, and data pipelines to support business intelligence initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using BI tools.

  • Perform data analysis and validation to ensure data accuracy and integrity.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to BI solutions and provide technical support to end-users.

  • The Senior BI Developer will be responsible for building and maintaining BI and analytics reports and dashboards.

  • This individual will work closely with data scientists, data engineers, analysts, and SMEs within the business to deliver new and exciting products and services.

  • The main objectives are to develop BI reporting solutions and drive operational efficiency and effectiveness by enabling data-driven decisions across the organization.

  • This includes fostering collaboration, building partnerships, co-developing products, sharing knowledge, providing insights and valuable predictive information to business teams and leaders to highlight potential risks and opportunities that initiate the drive for change.

  • Actively participates in upgrade and migration projects from legacy to future state.

  • Defines and follows Power BI and ThoughtSpot development best practices.

  • Works closely with Business and data development teams to drive requirements to completion.

  • Maintains and supports existing business intelligence solutions.

  • Maintains knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and upcoming product releases

  • Identify new opportunities to leverage data, integrate and enhance business value.

  • Mentors’ other developers in utilizing the tools to the best of their abilities

  • Assists in other areas of the department and company, as necessary.

  • Support enterprise BI strategy and organizational change management

  • Define, set up, and execute test cases to validate that the solution meets Business requirements.

  • Clearly defines, documents, and reinforces best practices in data visualization.

  • Provide consultative support and advice on technology projects led by business partners.

  • Work with business partners to understand BI reporting and analytical requirements.

  • Provide technical support on ad-hoc queries on usage of BI application.

  • Assist users on building ad-hoc reports and analysis.

  • Envision future use cases for reporting and analytical solutions.

  • Provide timely updates so that progress against each individual incident can be updated as required.

  • Write and review high quality technical documentation.

  • Review Procedural documentation for consistency and accuracy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related analytics field. Master’s preferred.

  • 6+ years experience in enterprise BI development

  • 3+ years experience creating complex reports, dashboard applications and scorecards.

  • 3+ years experience with SQL, with proven ability to write efficient queries.

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with DAX is required.

  • Strong knowledge of business intelligence concepts, data modeling, and data visualization techniques.

  • Proficiency in Power BI required. Experience with other tools such as Tableau or QlikView beneficial.

  • Experience with SQL and data query languages.

  • Familiarity with ETL processes and data warehousing principles.

  • Experience working directly with business teams to address ad-hoc queries and provide guidance on challenges they are facing.

  • Ability to follow processes and execute project deliverables in a timely manner.

  • Experience capturing business requirements and proving solutions on same

  • Experience coordinating with the team across the geographical regions.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively negotiate with other teams to create a mutually beneficial solution.

  • Solid understanding of data modeling concepts

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple requests.

  • Proven ability and desire to grow technical skill set.

  • Experience with or desire to learn and work with mobile reporting solutions.

  • Experience with Agile development methodology

Education

Bachelor's Degree: Computer and Information Science
