Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist students and their families with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other financial aid requirements as directed by the Director, Associate Director, Assistant Directors and/or Financial Aid Advisors.
Assist the financial aid staff with providing front-line financial aid information in person and by phone to students who come to the campus, call, or email the Financial Aid and Enrollment Center offices.
Ensure that all financial aid interactions are responded to with accurate and timely information in a professional and courteous manner.
Assist with various administrative tasks of the Enrollment Center and Financial Aid Office on a daily basis. Including but not limited to organizing files and forms, making copies, scanning documents and/or making calls or sending emails.
Perform other duties as directed by the Financial Aid. Office . Some weekend/and or evening hours may be included.
Learning Outcomes and Objectives:
To help develop students as leaders focusing on professional development; diversity/multicultural awareness; understanding corporate culture; and building professional mentor networking relationships .
To share strategies with students to successfully navigate Ivy Tech-Indianapolis processes especially related to financial aid
To research financial aid questions, learn team-based problem solving and consult with enrollment staff mentors, as needed.
To promote self-directed learning and critical thinking skills.
To develop an understanding of the processes, procedures, and legal requirements involving federal and state funding in post– secondary education.
To develop professional skills; customer service, phone etiquette, email management, time management, and communication skills.
To encourage and enhance face to face, peer to peer interaction and engagement.

Student membership to ISFAA (Indiana Student Financial Aid Association) and an invite to their state conference.

Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour
General Qualifications:
Completed FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need
Maintain a minimum of 6 credit hours of enrollment in eligible courses
Maintain an aid-eligible Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) status
Possess a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater.
Ability to work effectively as a team player.
Ability to multi-task and handle stressful situations with diplomacy and tact.
Possess excellent communication skills, professional demeanor and appearance.
Ability to learn or understand Federal and State financial aid benefits and how to apply for them.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong customer service orientation.
Excellent written and verbal communications
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with other departments within the college to obtain and maintain accurate information for students.
Ability to set priorities, manage time effectively, handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and demonstrates the ability to work with a diverse student population in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to research and assist staff with resolving student financial aid related issues.
