Business Manager – David Ashby Underwriting (Bloodstock)

London | Full-time | Hybrid (minimum 4 days in the office)

An excellent opportunity to become the trusted strategic partner to the Managing Director within DUAL’s established and highly regarded Bloodstock team.

This is a senior, influential role that sits at the heart of the business. You will translate strategic ambition into operational reality, shaping a high‑performing underwriting function and ensuring the business operates with discipline, transparency and strong governance. Blending commercial leadership with operational excellence, you will have a direct impact on performance, profitability and culture.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the Managing Director to align strategy, targets, risk appetite and operational capability

  • Lead and continuously improve underwriting operations, systems, processes and controls

  • Oversee delegated authority and claims governance, ensuring robust regulatory compliance

  • Strengthen financial controls, premium flow, reporting accuracy and data integrity

  • Manage audits and assurance activity, driving proactive control improvements

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, carriers and internal stakeholders

  • Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement

About you

  • Significant senior experience within insurance, with strong commercial and operational credibility

  • Deep understanding of underwriting, delegated authority operations, claims governance and regulation

  • Strong financial and analytical capability, with experience overseeing bordereaux and premium flows

  • Confident, credible leader and communicator, able to influence at senior level and represent the business
