About the Role
As an Operations Manager, you will lead a multi-disciplinary operations group supporting post-trade processing across U.S. and Canadian financial markets. You’ll be responsible for overseeing operational delivery across trade settlement, fund and annuity processing, asset servicing, reconciliations, and treasury/cash workflows.
You will manage teams across functional silos—ensuring quality execution, service performance, regulatory compliance, and operational risk controls. As a senior operations leader, you'll drive workflow efficiency, resolve systemic breaks, and partner with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen the firm’s operating model, particularly in the context of evolving regulatory obligations (e.g., T+1, CSA/SEC/IIROC rules, ISO 20022, cross-border settlements).
What You’ll Do
Leadership & People Management
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Team Leads, Senior Officers, SMEs, and Officers across multiple operational domains.
Establish team goals, performance KPIs, and career development plans aligned with broader business objectives.
Promote a high-performance culture based on accountability, transparency, and operational excellence.
Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and succession planning for the operations team.
Operational Oversight – End-to-End Ownership
Own day-to-day and exception management across trade settlements (CDS, DTC, Fedwire), mutual fund and annuity processing (Fund SERV, NSCC), cash sweeps, asset servicing (dividends, coupons, corporate actions), and reconciliations.
Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements under IIROC, SEC, CSA, and FINRA—including the ongoing transition to T+1 post-trade settlement.
Oversee internal control reviews, ensure timely resolution of audit items, and support all operational attestation or reporting requirements.
Coordinate resolution of high-impact issues (e.g., settlement delays, large-dollar cash breaks, income misallocations) across internal and external teams.
Strategic Initiatives & Change Management
Drive operational improvements, system upgrades, and workflow automation to support volume growth and reduce risk.
Partner with Technology, Product, and Compliance teams to evaluate and implement changes driven by market structure reforms, regulatory mandates, or client onboarding.
Serve as business owner for change initiatives impacting your domain—defining business requirements, testing plans, and success criteria.
Provide subject matter input into the development and rollout of operating models for new asset classes, platforms, or third-party integrations.
Risk Management & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure operational compliance with local and cross-border regulations, including IIROC 2500/2600 series, CSA NI 31-103, SEC Rule 15c3-3, and T+1 mandates.
Monitor and respond to key risk indicators (KRIs), service level breaches, trade fails, or income misallocations.
Own the resolution and documentation of operational incidents, control failures, and procedural exceptions.
Collaborate with Risk, Audit, and Compliance on regulatory inquiries, control testing, and remediation plans.
Stakeholder Management & Reporting
Act as primary operations liaison to internal and external stakeholders, including client service, custodians, fund managers, execution venues, and auditors.
Present regular performance and control reporting to senior leadership, identifying operational risks, service trends, and improvement plans.
Contribute to client onboarding discussions and due diligence sessions related to operational capabilities.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
7–10+ years of experience in investment operations, custody banking, or brokerage back-office functions.
Minimum 2–3 years of experience managing teams or large-scale operational workstreams across North American markets.
Expertise in post-trade infrastructure, including DTC, CDS, Fedwire, Lynx, SWIFT, FundSERV, and NSCC.
In-depth understanding of operational workflows across settlements, corporate actions, mutual funds, reconciliations, and cash management.
Familiarity with key regulatory frameworks: IIROC, CSA, OSC, SEC, FINRA, and T+1 post-trade mandates.
Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
Proven ability to lead incident management, change programs, and cross-departmental initiatives.
Preferred Skills
Experience managing across onshore/offshore or nearshore delivery models.

Familiarity with control testing, operational resilience planning, or governance frameworks (e.g., RCSA, SOC 1 audits).
Lean Six Sigma, PMP, or Agile certification is considered an asset.
