Ivy Tech seeks qualified adjunct faculty to supplement the physical science instruction needs of our students at the Evansville, IN campus. This course Introduces physical science concepts and theories pertaining to current applications and trends in physics, chemistry, earth science and astronomy.

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.

Major Responsibilities:

Candidates considered for adjunct positions under this postings must be able to provide instruction in person at the Evansville, IN campus.

PROGRAM OPERATION:

  • Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.

  • Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.

  • Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.

  • Submits requested information within established timelines.

STUDENTS:

  • Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance.

  • Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.

INSTRUCTION:

  • Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Blackboard, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.

  • In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.

  • Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views. Promote same as an integral part of one's work.

Hiring Range:

  • $44.00 per contact hour (approximately $2,112 per 8-week course)

Work Hours:  

  • This role is to teach in our 2nd 8 week term running from 10/13/2024 until 12/13/2024. The class times are Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00-8:00pm.

  • There is an additional opportunity for a Spring Semester class running for the full 16 week term on Fridays from 9:00-10:15am.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possesses a master's degree, or higher, with 18 graduate semester hours in the physical sciences.

  • Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction.

  • Must be located to teach in-person at the Evansville, IN campus

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience teaching in a post-secondary setting.

  • Doctorate degree.
