Talent Management:
Drives talent management initiatives in the region on a consistent basis. Directs Regional Recruiter to focus sourcing for external leadership needs, including Store Manager positions for existing stores as well as new stores/markets. Interviews and participates in the selection of all external Store Manager, District Manager and District Loss Prevention Manager candidates. Leads Quarterly succession planning meetings with RVP and DMs to assess current store management teams and identify anticipated field management staffing needs. Identifies high potential Store and Sales Managers, provides direction on building IDPs that address skill gaps in current roles and/or stretch assignments to advance skills for promotional opportunities. Partners with District IDP Captains to ensure internal development programs are effectively managed and maintained. Works with DMs/SMs/RLPD to effectively manage underperforming managers, approve documentation to address underperforming areas requiring improvement. Drives internal Store Manager Bench Assessments for the region to evaluate high potential Sales Managers being considered for Store Manager positions. Leads the final assessment process (CORE) for Store Managers in training, validating mastery of skills prior to placement in role, while also conducting HR portion of the assessment. Works with DM to strategize internal movement of talent and compensation for Store and Sales Managers. Participates in quarterly business reviews with RVP for each district. Manages Regional HR Representative by providing leadership, direction, coaching and feedback.
Training and Development:
Works with District Managers to plan and schedule all field leadership training courses available to store management. Facilitates HR portions of multiple mandatory HR based training courses. Manages the annual performance appraisal process for all salary and hourly teammates in the region. Creates and delivers HR topics during regional meetings. Serves as Subject Matter Expert for various projects as assigned including updating CORE facilitator and other field training materials. Provides change management leadership and supports various activities including store closings, communication plans, key HR initiatives, talent review, goal process, etc.
Proactive Teammate Relations:
Investigates and resolves teammate and workplace issues ensuring objectivity and fairness in the process. Provides HR presence by actively engaging teammates at all levels to identify opportunities to improve the work environment, surface issues and assist store management team in developing solutions. Works collaboratively with region/district and store management teams and regional team on teammate relations issues, including store management terminations. Proactively works with DMs and store management teams to resolve labor activity/concerns. Coaches and guides DM and SMs to effectively manage HR demands of their districts and stores. Managers Regional HR Representative by providing leadership, direction, coaching and feedback. Provides guidance on or conducts investigations as needed. Ensures proper termination decisions are made. Conducts exit interviews for SM and DM positions. Participates on store visits with Regional Team for broken stores and market visits
Compliance:
Ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations. Ensures compliance with interactive process for ADA accommodation requests. Partners with legal counsel to prepare and respond to lawsuits or complaints filed with outside agencies. Ensures all new HR policies/programs/procedures are effectively communicated and rolled out to the region. Partners with district teams to review staffing for store hourly levels during peak periods.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Business or an HR related field
7-10 years of experience in Human Resources Management Experience, preferably in retail
