Role Definition:

The PPE drive’s part development, supplier readiness, and quality performance across NPI, CPI, and NSI activities. The role manages part development and quality feedback loops while collaborating with suppliers, design control engineers, value chain engineering, and procurement category teams. The PPE also supports site purchasing, supply chain teams and other functional areas by serving as the link to category teams across Caterpillar, ensuring alignment with supplier expectations and sourcing strategies. This position helps identify the right sources for new part numbers and leads to cross-functional procurement projects that improve facility performance and operational outlooks.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and cost‑management activities from concept to PPAP to deliver parts at the right quality, total cost, and timeline, through collaboration with category team, packaging, transportation, business resources, supply chain, and other functional areas.
  • Implementing product supply strategies aligned with category management strategies to develop, optimize, and integrate a world‑class supply network that creates competitive advantage.
  • Leading cross‑functional sourcing and qualification activities for new part numbers, ensuring proper supplier selection, capability assessment, and alignment with category strategies.
  • Supporting site purchasing, supply chain and other functional areas by resolving supplier performance issues, enabling supply continuity, and strengthening communication between facilities and category teams.
  • Executing and coordinating procurement improvement projects that enhance supplier performance, operational outlooks, and end‑to‑end facility efficiency.

Degree Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business is required
  • Advanced English proficiency (spoken and written)

  • Leverages supplier performance data, cost models, and quality metrics to support informed sourcing and risk‑mitigation decisions.
  • Analyzes readiness data across NPI, CPI, and NSI to ensure part maturity and alignment with cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Utilizes dashboards and reports to communicate insights and prioritize improvement actions across teams.
  • Apply trend analysis and data to identify cost‑reduction opportunities and support improvement initiatives

Analytical Thinking

  • Applies structured problem‑solving (8D, DMAIC, fishbone, Pareto) to address quality defects and prevent recurrence
  • Translates complex commercial, technical, or quality information into clear recommendations for leadership and cross‑functional teams
  • Assesses risks within the supply network and proposes mitigation strategies based on data and scenario analysis
  • Evaluates technical specifications, manufacturing processes, and supplier capability to ensure proper part feasibility and compatibility

Effective Communications

  • Communicates technical and commercial requirements clearly to suppliers and internal teams to ensure alignment to expectations.
  • Serves as the communication bridge between site purchasing, supply chain teams, and global category leaders.
  • Delivers concise reports, presentations, and updates to stakeholders regarding project status, risks, and required actions.
  • Tailors’ communication style to engage diverse audiences effectively, from engineers to suppliers to leadership.

Supplier Management

  • Builds and maintains strong supplier relationships to support consistent performance and collaborative problem resolution.
  • Leads evaluations, capability assessments, and onboarding activities for new suppliers or new part introductions.
  • Drives and monitors supplier corrective actions to ensure timely closure of quality and delivery issues.
  • Tracks supplier performance (quality, delivery, cost) and escalates concerns appropriately when gaps arise.
  • Ensure suppliers understand and align with category strategies and facility requirements across NPI, CPI, and NSI programs.

The best candidates also have:

  • Six sigma (yellow or green belt)
  • Project management professional (PMP)

Additional information

  • Located in Monterrey, Nuevo León.

  • The work schedule is set Monday to Friday (7am-4pm).

  • This position will require traveling up to 10% domestic and internationally. 

  • Domestic relocation is not offered.
