Your Job:

The primary purpose of the Materials Nurse Manager position is to act as a liaison to physician groups and clinical areas to ensure continued delivery of quality patient care in conjunction with cost containment, cost reduction, product standardization, infection prevention and safety.

Your Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or closely related clinical area.
• Current Texas licensure, appropriate for clinical area of expertise if preferred.
• Working with physician groups and clinical areas to assure continued delivery of quality patient care in conjunction with cost containment and reduction.
• Strong management and team leadership skills; computer skills are a plus.
• Ability to deal effectively with vendors and to work closely with all departments in the MHS system.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal presentation skills, excellent analytical ability, ability and willingness to make decisions, possession of business knowledge and sound judgement.

Your Job Responsibilities :

• Works with clinical and financial areas to effect cost containment and reduction of total procedure costs. Reviews contract requirements and specifications with an emphasis on delivery of safe quality patient care and education of staff; assists with contract analysis, implementation and product conversion. Consults with departments on clinical trials for new products, equipment and services. Performs feedback analyses and formulates product recommendations based on the information. Assists in defining specifications and bidding physician preference items in all departmental areas. Assists in product standardization and utilization of contracts.
• Serves as liaison to new facilities and entities for the purpose of conversion to established/standardized products, equipment and service contracts.
• Analyzes opportunities to synergize with customer departments wherever possible. Serves as liaison with physicians, clinical areas and vendors to facilitate the resolution of clinical issues related to product selection and utilization. Reports product failures to vendors and coordinates return & replacement of products. Assists buyers by recommending clinically equivalent products during backorder situations.
• Performs complex clinical and financial product line analyses and formulates recommendations to facilitate Materials Analysis Committee (MAC) and MHS Safety Product Committee activities. Works with decision support software and clinical pathway teams to help identify best practices from a supply, equipment and/or service standpoint. Serves as a liaison with the Education department to coordinate system-wide product inservices and conversions. Interviews sales persons promptly and courteously, ensuring good hospital image and supplier relations by maintaining prudent and ethical standards of behavior.
• Maintains clinical licensure and works to keep current with clinical techniques. Maintains established policies and guidelines, goals, objectives, critical success factors, safety and infection control guidelines. Interacts with Nursing leadership groups to obtain and provide information with regard to products and clinical practice.
