Overview

X is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to join our team as the X Canada Sales Director. This pivotal role drives the vision, strategy, and revenue growth for X’s advertising business in Canada. The Sales Director will lead the Canada sales team and collaborate with cross-functional (XFN) partners, serving as the site lead for our Canada office and a key member of the CanLATAM leadership team. This individual will be the face of X in the Canadian market, fostering influential relationships, shaping industry perceptions, and delivering on revenue targets.

Responsibilities:

Vision and Leadership

  • Sets and owns a compelling and inspiring vision for X Canada, aligned with our global objectives and strategy, while rallying the sales and Canada XFN teams around this vision.

  • Acts as the site lead for the Canada office, fostering a culture that embeds the mindset and behaviors essential for X Canada’s success across all team members.

  • Serves as a key member of the CanLATAM leadership team, contributing to regional strategy and collaboration.

Strategy, Revenue, and Operations

  • Delivers the Canada revenue target, owning the development of the advertising sales and partnerships strategy in collaboration with Sales Leads and XFN Leads to ensure successful execution.

  • Owns the Canada advertising revenue number and partners with Sales Leads to accurately forecast weekly, quarterly, and annual revenue.

  • Collaborates with XFN teams and Sales Leads to provide actionable business insights that shape decision-making and strategic direction.

  • Partners with Sales Operations to manage operational rigor across the sales team to drive maximum impact.

  • Acts as the escalation point for Sales, Sales Operations, and Revenue Finance teams, proactively identifying and removing revenue-impacting blockers.

Market Presence

  • Owns and builds influential relationships with Agency CEOs and top-account CMOs to drive partnerships and advertising spend on X.

  • Engages with key industry bodies (e.g., IAB, CMA) to proactively shape perceptions and influence advertising investment in X.

  • Leads a coordinated response when the platform faces challenges from activist groups or misrepresentation in the media, aligning with company guidelines.

  • Owns industry communication and media presence through thought leadership and active media engagement to shift market narratives and perceptions.

  • Represents X Canada as the Country Managing Director, maintaining a strong presence across the industry and establishing authority as the voice of X in the market.

  • Collaborates with Sales Leads and Marketing to deliver revenue-generating events and works with Public Policy to engage regulators, officials, and relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in digital media sales with 7–9 years leading sales teams

  • Proven experience in a senior sales leadership role, ideally within digital advertising, media, or technology sectors.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful sales strategies that deliver revenue growth.

  • Exceptional leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams and fostering a high-performance culture.

  • Strong network of relationships with agency leaders, C-suite executives, and industry influencers in Canada.

  • Excellent forecasting and operational skills, with a track record of delivering accurate revenue projections.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate insights into actionable business plans.

  • Comfortable navigating high-stakes escalations and resolving complex blockers.

  • Experience engaging with media, industry bodies, and public policy stakeholders is a plus.

  • Passion for X’s mission and a deep understanding of the advertising and digital media landscape.
