Summary of Job Duties:

The Assistant Staff Scientist is a grant-funded research staff position housed within the Division of Pharmaceutical Evaluation and Policy (PEP) of the Department of Pharmacy Practice, at the UAMS College of Pharmacy. The purpose of this position is to support and enhance the Division's capacity to effectively leverage an increasing number of complex data sources, support strategic collaborations to enhance dissemination of operational and research data, and utilize techniques to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data for analysis and reporting to policy makers and managers. The position reports to the PEP Division Director, and the primary role of the Assistant Staff Scientist is to support the research mission of the Division, Department, and College.


Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Evaluation & Policy or related field, and 0 – 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of Statistical programming software such as SPSS, SAS, Stata, R or Python.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves in a professional research position that functions independently within established guidelines with general supervision. 
  • Provides a high level of data, programming, and statistical expertise to support the design, evaluation, analysis, and dissemination of research projects within the Division of Pharmaceutical Evaluation & Policy.
  • Assists investigators in manuscript preparation including independently drafting sections that clearly and accurately describe the research methods and results.
  • Assists investigators with research protocol development, grant writing, data analysis, and statistical programming using statistical software. 
  •  Attends regular meetings with the division director and other PEP Division personnel, as needed.
  • Other Duties Assigned
