Caterpillar is seeking a Senior Supply Chain Manager in Sanford, NC. In this role, you will provide leadership and direction to supply chain teams responsible for the management of all facility supply functions.  

What you can look forward to in this role:

  • The Supply Chain Manager’s span of control includes supply chain processes, planning, material requirements, inventory management, demand and orders management and supply chain performance.
  • Manage the IRA and IDA process controls and execution, including RSSM Management, OS&D management, SLED process controls and Kitting inventory and shipping process controls.
  • Ensure PFEP process and controls align with facility and business requirements.
  • Manage Inventory positions supporting business requirements, including prime product inventory and component turns.
  • Manage the Engineering Change, NPI, NSI processes
  • As a member of the Sanford Business Unit Leadership Team, you will provide input to business unit goals and strategy development.
  • Accountable for development of the supply chain organizational design, key enterprise inventory metrics, point of use material availability, prime product availability and reduction of cash-to-cash cycle time.
  • Ensures facility production schedules provide proper product availability to dealers/customers while balancing manufacturing constraint issues. 
  • Leads facility Sales and Operations Planning, ensuring robust process conformance. 
  • Works with product managers to ensure supply chain strategies are developed and aligned with worldwide sourcing strategies and provides inputs to supplier sourcing and resource management.
  • Works closely with relevant functional areas and assigns resources to supply chain performance improvement projects.
  • Responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of direct reports, including development, capability building and succession planning. 
  • Internal customers include department employees, operations and business resource managers in the division as well as the internal fabrications team.
  • Leads efforts for the Product Distribution Center
  • External contacts include various customers and vendors throughout Caterpillar’s worldwide business units and markets. 

A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:

  • Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP): Knowledge of the processes, practices and systems used in manufacturing requirements planning (MRP); ability to optimize planning for manufacturing cycles and ensure capacity and materials availability.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Inventory Management: Knowledge of processes and methods of inventory management; ability to effectively manage organization's materials, commodities, merchandises, or products.
  • Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.

Top Candidates for this position may also have:

  • Minimum of 10 years of comprehensive supply chain experience
  • Knowledge and experience with 6 Sigma
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Develop and deploy creative / original solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to establish and monitor policies and guidelines
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP National Certification highly desired
  • Experience in a high-volume production facility
  • Background in scheduling within complexity of attachments and/or internal value streams
  • Experience in purchasing, parts distribution and/or logistics
