Webster Bank CIO organization is seeking a dynamic and experienced Solutions Architect to join our team. The Solutions Architect is accountable for guiding, architecting, and designing a portfolio of solutions with special focus on Automation and BPM to drive operational efficiencies and accelerate digital transformation. Solutions include systems (applications, technologies, processes, and information), shared infrastructure services and shared application services. The Solutions Architect is responsible for defining target architecture, strategy, and roadmaps to identify, implement and rationalize banking operations. The Solutions Architect partners with cross functional teams to bridge the gap between various teams and projects to make sure that solutions are consistent with the target architecture, are cost-effective, and rationalized to meet the business goals. The Solutions architect will provide the necessary leadership, analysis and design tasks related to the application portfolio in the consumer banking domain.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

  • Provide solutions and architecture for key business initiatives and own a portfolio of applications that span across consumer and commercial banking domains.
  • Work with business and operations team to identify, assess, and prioritize, opportunities of automation and build a pipeline of processes to be automated.
  • Create reference architectures and identify reusable process, service components, and patterns to standardize and accelerate the banks digitization efforts.
  • Create required architecture artifacts for the projects and ensure compliance with banks policies
  • Design automation workflows leveraging platforms such as ServiceNow BPM, Microsoft Power Automate, and Bizagi to streamline operational processes in the bank.
  • Design the integrations required with different systems as part of end to end process automation.
  • Create a framework for evaluating and assessing automation opportunities and identifying the right set of technologies to use based on the use cases.
  • Use Enterprise Architecture framework to drive Automation.
  • Continuously evaluate new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance automation capabilities while ensuring scalability and security.
  • Mentor junior staff members and provide guidance to cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and inclusivity.
  • Work closely with the risk and compliance teams to assess the risks associated with automation implementations and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Understand the technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models.
  • Analyze the business-IT environment (run, grow and transform the business) to detect critical deficiencies, and recommend solutions for improvement (systems of record, differentiation, and innovation).
  • Analyze the technology industry, competitors, and market trends, and determine their potential impact on the enterprise.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or engineering.
  • Preferred: A master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., BIAN, BPMN, PMP, TOGAF).
  • Required: 5+ years of experience in automation design and implementation, with a strong background in banking operations.
  • Preferred: Demonstrable experience with ServiceNow BPM, Microsoft Power Automate, and Bizagi to design and deploy automation solutions.
  • Required: Experience and deep understanding of various digitization and automation technologies – RPA, Workflow, BPM, AI, etc.
  • Required: Deep understanding of business process management, process modeling and BPM Design patterns
  • Experience with application integration patterns, middleware, ESB, API Gateways.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to engage and advise both non-technical and technical stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach to leadership, with an emphasis on collaboration, empathy, customer centricity, and inclusiveness.
  • Experience in a banking/financial services environment is essential.
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies (e.g., ArchiMate, TOGAF, Zachman).
  • Proficiency in evaluating and recommending emerging technologies and best practices.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-driven solutions for financial services.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation

The estimated salary range for this position is $155,000.00 to $175,000.00. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
