Our opportunity

The Head of Customs will be responsible for leading the commercial and execution strategy for the customs clearance product, driving sustainable growth and positioning Maersk as a benchmark of excellence in the market. This role has end‑to‑end accountability for performance, ensuring operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance, while building and developing a high‑performing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the commercial strategy for Customs Clearance, aligned with business objectives and growth targets
  • Lead the execution strategy, ensuring operational excellence, productivity, and service quality
  • Deliver revenue growth and profitability for the Customs Clearance business
  • Strengthen Maersk’s brand as a trusted, best‑in‑class provider of customs services in the market
  • Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing team, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Develop a strong talent pipeline and prepare successors for key roles
  • Drive customer‑centric initiatives, enhancing the value proposition and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure full compliance with local and international customs regulations, as well as internal policies
  • Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes, proactively adjusting strategies as needed
  • Partner closely with Sales, Product, and Operations to deliver integrated logistics solutions

We are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, International Trade, or related fields
  • Solid experience in Customs Clearance, Logistics, or International Trade
  • Proven track record in commercial strategy development and business growth delivery
  • Strategic mindset combined with strong execution capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management ability
  • In‑depth knowledge of customs regulations and compliance requirements
  • Ability to act as a strategic leader, balancing long‑term vision with operational excellence
  • Experience leading transformation initiatives and continuous improvement
  • Strong focus on talent development and building future leaders
  • Represent Maersk externally, reinforcing the brand as a market reference for excellence
  • Languages: Fluent Portuguese; advanced English highly desirable; intermediate Spanish desirable.
