What you will do

The Senior Manager will be responsible for driving the successful delivery of strategic business initiatives by overseeing the technical architecture, managing talent, and establishing a culture of excellence in software engineering.

The key aspects of this role involve:

  • prior hands-on experience building full stack applications

  • management experience in leading software engineering teams and talent development

  • Delivering initiatives and applications at enterprise scale

Roles & Responsibilities:

Talent Growth & People Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a hard-working team of engineers, fostering an environment that encourages learning,

Collaboration, and innovation. Focus on nurturing future leaders and providing growth opportunities through coaching, training, and mentorship.

Recruitment & Team Expansion: Develop a comprehensive talent strategy that includes recruitment, retention, onboarding, and career development and build a diverse and inclusive team that drives innovation, aligns with Amgen's culture and values, and delivers business priorities

Organizational Leadership: Work closely with senior leaders within the function and across the Amgen India site to align engineering goals with broader organizational objectives and demonstrate leadership by contributing to strategic discussions

Best Practice Establishment: Define and implement software engineering best practices including coding standards, design patterns, and DevOps practices to foster an efficient and high-quality development environment.

Full-Stack Development Evangelism: Promote and drive full-stack development practices within Amgen’s engineering teams, advocating the adoption of the latest technologies and tools for front-end, back-end, and cloud-native solutions.

Delivery of Business Initiatives: Be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of business-critical projects, ensuring that software solutions align with business goals, are delivered on time, and meet quality standards.

Collaboration & multi-functional Leadership: Work closely with product managers, practice leads, technical architects, and multi-functional teams to identify and prioritize opportunities for improving software development processes and technical delivery.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Encourage a culture of innovation by exploring new technologies, methodologies, and tools that improve software delivery and enhance engineering productivity.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree and 8 to 10 years of Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 to 14 years of Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with at least 3 years in a leadership role experience OR

  • Diploma and 14 to 18 years of Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in full-stack development technologies (JavaScript, Node.js, React, Angular, etc.).

  • Deep understanding of software engineering standard processes, including CI/CD, TDD, and agile methodologies.

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

  • Strong project management skills with a consistent record of delivering large-scale software solutions.

Good-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) using AWS services

  • Knowledge of data security, privacy regulations, and scalable software solutions.

  • Familiarity with enterprise software systems in life sciences or healthcare domains
