Position Summary
Strategic-oriented position that develops, implements and documents corporate public safety programs and serves as project coordinator for operating company public safety programs. Coordinates activities in support of pipeline regulatory compliance and public awareness programs.
Essential Responsibilities
Interact closely with internal stakeholders including jurisdictional leaders, directors and managers to support the corporate objectives for public safety and include regulatory compliance defined in RP 1162. Coordinate projects that support Xcel Energy's Public Awareness Written Plan. Continuous interaction with external stakeholders serving as Xcel Energy's liaison to state and region pipeline partnerships established within states and/or regionally to address state and federal pipeline safety regulations.
Accountable for project coordination including research, development, implementation and documentation to demonstrate continuous improvement of public safety programs. Provide consistent safety information to external audiences within diverse service areas of operating companies, and meeting or exceeding all regulatory requirements of local, state and federal agencies and other governing bodies
Evaluate success of implemented public safety programs working with Xcel Energy's Market Research and benchmark activity with national pipeline organizations and utility peers from within the electric and natural gas utility industry.
Database and documentation management and support to rate cases, claims, executive inquiries, etc.
Oversee contracts with vendors by establishing and communicating clear performance expectations to support the manager in meeting the approved annual public safety budget
Interact with corporate brand advertising, outside advertising agency, and other key internal stakeholders, supporting public safety messaging
May serve as internal expert in response to lawsuits and media inquiries about past and present public safety programs
Minimum Requirements
- Requires a Bachelor's degree with emphasis in communications or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years experience preferably in communications, training field and project management.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse and rapidly changing business.
