What we are looking for:

Under the supervision of the Billing Director, the Billing Manager is responsible for overseeing invoicing activities of investment management fee billing and collection. The Billing Manager will be responsible for Billing Analysts and their ongoing training and development. In addition, the Billing Manager will participate on billing projects, collaborate with internal controls team, and respond to external auditors.
 

Your responsibilities: 
 

  • Oversee Private Wealth and Financial Intermediary billing activities and processes of Fiera’s US and Canada divisions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate production of invoices and reconciled month-end billing reports.
  • Review and approve management fee calculations and billing reports as prepared by Billing Analysts and external sources.
  • Provide concise explanations when declining billing requests or calculations while offering alternative solutions to the requestor.
  • Collaborate with Billing Analysts to ensure the timely collection of management fees and prompt follow-ups of unpaid invoices by monitoring the Accounts Receivable Aging report on a regular basis.
  • Oversee Billing Analysts during the preparation, reconciliation, posting of journal entries in accounting system SAP.
  • Verify that Billing Analysts have corrected rejected journal entries during the appropriate accounting period.
  • Ensure that Billing Analysts are current with cross-training and knowledge transfer for performing complex management fee calculations, variance analysis and month-end tasks.
  • Consult with internal teams to resolve issues, develop processes, and to maintain collaborative relationships.
  • Ensure that all invoicing activities adhere to Controls 52-109 and operational processes while maintaining segregation of duties.
  • Document billing improvements and processes.
  • Participate and collaborate with Billing Director, internal team members and external system vendors on projects, system upgrades and user acceptance tests.
  • Take on different tasks and processes as assigned by Billing Director.

Must have requirements to be successful in this role:

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • 10 years of relevant finance and invoicing experience with an Asset/ Investment Management firm, Hedge Fund, Corporate Bank, Insurance or Pension companies.
  • At least 5 years of management experience in high volume billing operations environment.
  • Experience in portfolio reconciliation and fund administration roles within an asset management firm, an asset.
  • Ability to meet month-end and year-end accounting and billing deadlines.
  • Skillful delegation of tasks and priorities with clear instructions.
  • Autonomous when performing complex analysis and reports.
  • Experience in coaching and evaluating direct reports.
  • Client service oriented to both internal and external clients.
  • Adaptable and able to handle changing priorities.
  • Experience in supporting continuous improvement projects required in business process optimisation, an asset.
  • Engaged to work in an environment that promote respect and collaboration.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS EXCEL.
  • Knowledge of systems SAP, Archer, APX, Electra, an asset.
  • Bilingualism required (fluently in French and English)
